Students at Lutheran East are not only taught about the love of Jesus Christ — they are given opportunities to live out that love and serve others just as Jesus taught and modeled. All students are involved in service around the Northeast Ohio area. In recent years, students have served at local churches, the Cleveland Foodbank, local homeless shelters, the Cleveland Kids in Need Resource Center, and a number of senior citizens’ homes.
In recent years, Lutheran East has also embarked on an international mission trip with its junior class. Students and faculty have traveled to the town of Hato Mayor, Dominican Republic to serve its impoverished community. Students lead Bible studies as well as a VBS (Vacation Bible School) type program for local children. They also lead worship, pray with the community members, distribute supplies to feed the hungry, and improve physical structures in the town by painting, cleaning, and constructing when needed.
We believe that by providing students the opportunity to see their own service making a difference in the lives of their fellow mankind, in the strength of their communities, and in their own hearts, we are laying the groundwork for the next generation of compassionate global citizens.
